Dining at the #1 Theme Park Restaurant in the World!

Posted on

Mythos26Most people that visit theme parks think of dining as a long wait in a cafeteria line for a traditional burger and fries. But at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, you can eat like a Goddess at Mythos Restaurant. Which is considered to be the #1 theme park restaurant in the world for 6 years in a row!🤯 This award-winning restaurant caught our eyes as we were walking through The Lost Continent area of the park. We couldn’t help but be awed by the stunning details in the rock formations and the cascading waterfalls from the outside. We went up to check out what it was and at the front door a banner ran across and read “#1 Theme Park Restaurant in the World”, so of course, we had to test that claim out for ourselves!

Mythos Restaurant

Location: The Lost Continent
Phone Number: 407-224-4012
Reservations: Not required, but recommended

Dining Type: Full Service

Serving: Lunch and Dinner
Price: $$

🌟Priority seating for guests staying on-site at Universal’s Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, and Hard Rock Hotel.

This restaurant is one of the only two full service restaurants in the park, meaning you’ll have a nice server to take care of the table instead of quick counter service. (The other full service restaurant in Islands of Adventure is Confisco Grille, located in the Port of Entry part of park.) Although this restaurant is considered fine dining for park standards, no worries about coming in shorts and a t-shirt, all guests are welcome!

As soon as you walk inside it feels like you’re in a huge cave! It’s decorated with beautiful mosaics, we couldn’t stop looking around us. When the entrance is beautiful you just know the restaurant is going to be even better, so we were really excited to walk in!

We walked around the corner into the main dining room, and we were so surprised that the restaurant is a grand sea cavern! The interior alone hits it out of the park!🤩🤩🤩

In the rock formations, you’ll also find representations of mythical gods and goddesses all around. It’s spectacular!🤩

One side of the restaurant has seating near huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The views alone are out of this world! We could sit and enjoy watching the rollercoasters across Islands Of Adventure’s lagoon all day!🎢😍 So if they’re available, definitely ask for a table by the windows!

In addition to the indoor dining room, you’ll also find an outdoor patio with the same incredible views of the theme park! The roof is being held up by an ancient mythical God and the details are just extraordinary!🧜🏼‍♂️👑 Sadly the patio was closed, probably because Orlando was expecting rain later in the day, but we were still able to take a look outside.

There’s so much detail throughout the restaurant that pays such close attention to the mythical theming. From the grotto appearance and cave carvings to the forks and knives on each table, it’s like you’re eating like the King of the Seas!🤴🏼🍴

We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation because we were visiting during the middle of the week. So luckily, we didn’t have to experience any wait times. We hear that Mythos gets crowded during the weekends, so a reservation is always recommended.

The menu has a good amount of options all on one page so it’s not overwhelming. You can take a look at their menu online here. Mythos highlights their Mediterranean cuisine, but it’s pretty Americanized. For anyone with dietary restrictions, Mythos will do their best to accommodate. They have a lot more vegetarian and gluten-free options than most theme park restaurants!👍🏼 On each table they had a full wine list and cocktail menu. Their signature drink our server suggested was called the Razz Lemonade, made with Citrus Vodka, Razzmatazz, Sour Mix, and Sprite.🍹

After going through the menu with our server Jordan, he suggested the Pad Thai. It’s the most popular dish on the menu, he said he sells about 50 a day!😱 So of course that’s what we ordered, along with a mixed greens salad to share. The Pad Thai is vegetarian friendly and gluten-free. It’s basically rice noodles and mixed vegetables tossed in a delicious sweet and sour peanut sauce! You can also add chicken or shrimp to it if you want some meat! We thought the Pad Thai was sooo good, we couldn’t help but finish it!🍝😋

Also on the menu there are so many unique dishes you won’t find elsewhere in the park, like the Spanakopita Dip or the Gnocchi Bolognese. Another cool dish is the seasonal risotto that changes its flavoring and ingredients depending on the time of year. And they also have sandwiches and burgers, so there’s something for everyone! For dessert, Jordan recommended their Chocolate-Hazelnut Crème Brulee with Nutella!😍😋

Mythos restaurant at Universal Orlando is the most intricately designed restaurant we have ever lied our eyes on, and the food is phenomenal as well!😍🙌🏼 Definitely, this is the best place to come and unwind after being on the rollercoasters all day. We’ll be back to try more drinks and appetizers! Even if you aren’t able to make it in, definitely stop by to take a look at the outside. Which is also a great photo opportunity! And if you have time, it’s so worth taking a lap around the restaurant.🤩

Nearby Attractions:

Although there isn’t much in The Lost Continent, it’s a very well-themed area about ancient legends and myths. The part of the park is neighboring between Seuss Landing and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The Lost Continent has a couple attractions like Poseidon’s Fury, a special-effects show, and the mischievous Mystic Fountain that’s a talking, squirting fountain. Trust us when we say he has an interesting sense of humor.😜 The Lost Continent seems smaller compared to the other areas at Universal Studios,  and is more of a passing through area to get to other lands in the park. But we definitely recommend stopping by Mythos for an awesome dining experience in the grotto! It’s a must when visiting Islands of Adventure!

Look out for our blog post on Universal’s Islands of Adventure!
