Summer 2019 is only around the corner so it’s time to start planning your next big family adventure! And where else should you visit other than Universal Orlando Resort! There’s so much new excitement happening at the parks this season including the new thrilling “story coaster”, Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, located inside of Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park! We were so lucky to be one of the first to experience this one of a kind rollercoaster before opening to the public today!

Replacing the beloved Dragon Challenge ride, Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure is bringing a new story to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter starring everyone’s favorite half-giant Rubeus, Hagrid. The adventure begins as Muggles and Wizards enter into the Forbidden Forest. As soon as you enter the queue for the ride, you’ll be transported to a land of mysterious ruins amongst the trees. Depending on the wait time and where you are in line, you may even catch a glimpse of the iconic motorbikes speeding through the mile-long winding tracks. (It’s so cool to see it at night as the motorbikes are lit up with colorful flashing lights!) As you continue through the line, you’ll come across Hagrid’s hut and his garden filled with rotting pumpkins and rusted garden tools.
The ride is complete with twists, turns, and unexpected halts all before descending backwards. Oh and we have to mention, there’s a full 17-foot vertical drop!😱 You may want to wait to have a full pint of butterbeer for after the ride!
This unique ride features a 2-passenger car with an enchanted motorbike and sidecar perfect for dragging your BFF along for the ride!🏍 You might have to duel for seats.🤪 And if magic is on your side, ride twice for a different experience! We rode Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure at night, which amplified the experience. It felt like we were really riding a motorbike thanks to the ride launching from 0 to full speed through the Forbidden Forest in just seconds, as sound effects play a muffling motor sound and the voice of Hagrid. And keep your eyes out for dragon eggs, nifflers, unicorns, and Hagrid himself!
So the big question is: Is the ride worth the long wait?! Absolutely!!
We read that, “within an hour of debuting, the ride has a 10-hour wait!”. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed! It’s truly a magical experience whether you’re a Harry Potter fanatic or not!
And the fun doesn’t end there! Grab a park to park pass at Universal Orlando so you can experience Hogsmeade and take the Forbidden Journey ride through the Hogwarts Castle at Islands of Adventure, and then catch the Hogwarts Express to the hustle and bustle of Diagon Alley at Universal Studios!
