🌟If you happen to get to the Inn after hours they will leave you an envelope and key to get into your room.

Every day at the Inn they have fruit-infused water and some other type of beverage like Green Iced Tea, which you can come down and grab a glass anytime during your stay!

Great Room
The Great Room is where you can come to enjoy breakfast and dinner (included everyday of your stay!). They also have an entire entertainment center stocked with classic reads and DVDs for you to use. And a grand fireplace which makes it super cozy in the evening!🙌🏼

They also have board games to play like Scrabble and a really neat interchangeable game table that has monopoly and others! We really enjoyed sitting next to the fire with a glass of wine and playing the games at night!

Back Deck
Walk out their grand double doors from the Great Room to pacific paradise! Out here you can relax while soaking up all the gorgeous views of the coastline with beautiful plants and flowers surrounding you. Even on a gloomy day its magical!🤩💫

Rooms
We stayed in their First Floor Corner King room (Manzanita Room on their website) which was just a few steps away from the Great Room, it was so convenient! The decor was very natural and earthy just like the rest of the Inn, but very modern at the same time. Our room was very spacious with a super comfortable king size bed, a living area with chairs and a fireplace, a work-friendly desk, and our own private outdoor deck!

Upon entering our room there was a bag of le bon garçon on our bed, which are really delicious French-style caramels made right in California! Along with the BGI Fall breakfast menu, the Mendocino County Safety Guidelines (in regards to COVID-19), and a welcome letter stating all of the precautions that they are taking at the Inn to ensure the safety of their guests during this pandemic. (Wearing a mask around the Inn, using hand sanitizer etc.) We felt very safe our whole stay!

When you first walk in the room there is a big closet with huge sliding doors which doubled as a mirror (we loved getting ready here!). Inside the closet they had an iron and ironing board, laundry bags, hangers and a dresser for your clothes, super comfy BGI robes, a mini fan, and some extra blankets just incase because it can get chilly on the coast!

Our room had so many windows which gave great natural lighting! We loved that we could roll out the windows and see the pretty flowers and breathe the fresh air. We even had a live rooster alarm clock in the morning! lol🐓

There is a nightstand on each side of the bed, with a lamp and an outlet that had both a regular and 2 USB charging ports. And next to the one nightstand was 6 more outlets which came in really handy for me charging all my electronics!🙌🏼 They also have a bluetooth speaker for you to use, a retro alarm clock, coasters with rustic photos of BGI, and a Himalayan pink salt tea light candle holder. Which completely tied in with their natural and earthy decor!

The artwork around the room was just beautiful.😍 They had pictures of California Redwoods, pictures of the Mendocino Coast and beaches, and a really unique woven dress which was definitely the centerpiece of the room.

The living area was really nice with two big comfy leather chairs, a flat-screen TV, and a cozy fireplace!

The bathroom was really nice with coastal elements. I loved that they had a 3-tiered shelf on the wall (above the toilet) with anything that you could possibly need during your stay! Cotton balls, Cotton Swabs, Shower Cap, Exfoliating Pad, Molton Brown Shower Gel, ear plugs, and a extremely nice Salt Scrub that left our skin feeling so soft and rejuvenated! With all the extra touches, staying at BGI was like having a spa day. 🧖🏼♀️🙌🏼

The shower was just gorgeous with the most beautiful stone wall backsplash. It had a built-in shelf with shampoo, conditioner, etc. for you to use. And next to the shower was a deep Japanese soaking tub! The perfect tub to relax in and gaze out the windows at the coast.🤩🌊✨

The desk had a guestbook with information about the Inn and The Yoga Deck. A beautifully illustrated deck of cards with fifty yoga poses and meditations for you to do everyday!🧘🏼♀️ We loved that they had this, and thought it was the perfect way to start your day on a positive note.

There was also a bottle of Roederer Estate Brut sparkling wine waiting for us in our room along with a handwritten welcome note. Such a warm welcome!🥰

Our favorite part of the room was through the French doors to our own private deck which led out to the most gorgeous views of the coast! It felt like a secluded luxury cabin stay in the woods.😍

The rooms upstairs also have their own private upper deck which provide great views too!

Our private deck had two chairs and a little table, it was small but perfect!

We enjoyed the common area outside too, sitting in the wooden rocking chairs enjoying the coastal views. 🤩🥂✨

These views were so amazing to wake up to.😍 It was so nice to be able to walk just a few steps right outside our doors and enjoy our morning coffee out here each morning. It was so peaceful!

We also had the opportunity to check out one of the upstairs rooms, called Smuggler’s Cove. Smuggler’s Cove was very similar to the Manzanita Room just a little smaller, as there is no private deck. But it is equipped with all the same amenities!

The shower/bathtub in this room was a more basic shower but nonetheless still nice and clean.

Smuggler’s Cove doesn’t have an upper deck but it still had amazing views out of the roll out windows. The views from the upper level were just as dreamy!🤩🙌🏼

Dining at Brewery Gulch Inn
Dining at the Inn is like no other, a wide variety with a focus on natural and organic ingredients primarily from local farmers, the Brewery Gulch Inn prides in their food celebrating the Mendocino region. Each day Executive Chef James Hardenburg prepares cooked-to-order breakfasts and light evening appetizers featuring organic produce, accompanied by local wines and beers, which you can enjoy in the Great Room, out on the back deck (with a view), or in your room. These are both included in your stay!🙌🏼

Each morning there is an assortment of coffee and tea available for each guest, along with an “appetizer”. One day it was blueberry muffins with almonds and the next it was english muffins with apricot jam! If one thing’s for sure they definitely don’t starve you at BGI.😜😋

At BGI, they change their breakfast menu every season. And we happened to be there on the first day of Fall so we got to try out their new Fall menu during our stay!🍂 The Fall menu consisted of things like Apple Orchard Oats, Pumpkin Waffles, freshly-squeezed juices, and their Sublime Lassi which may be the best smoothie I’ve ever tasted! If it’s on the menu when you’re there you have to try it!😋

For breakfast Tara got The Classic (pictured on the left) with two eggs, a Swedish Hasselback potato, and griddled tempeh because she’s Vegetarian. It was so nice that they had the option to substitute the meat! They also have tofu and soy milk that may also be substituted upon request.
I decided to try the Proinó Sántouits (pictured on the right) which is an open-faced Greek breakfast sandwich on griddled pita with two eggs, roasted garden vegetables and a housemade tzatiki sauce. We both agreed that our breakfast was unbelievably delicious!😋🙌🏼

Just when we thought we were stuffed, Chef James came over and offered us each a sample of their Pumpkin Waffle. An offer we couldn’t refuse!😜 Drizzled with apple cider syrup and topped with whipped cinnamon vanilla butter it tasted like Fall in our mouth!🍎🍂 It was delicious, so light and fluffy. Not heavy at all like normal waffles!

Wine Hour
Each night the BGI holds a wine hour at 5:30pm with light evening appetizers accompanied by local wines and beers, also included in your stay!🙌🏼 We had the opportunity to try the very Owner of BGI’s own wine label, Fathers + Daughters.🍷 It’s basically like a mini wine tasting every evening!
They do also have a few non-alcoholic beverages for those who don’t drink, like Gewürztraminer & Pinot Noir grape juice from Navarro Vineyards (which is a local winery in the Anderson Valley), sparkling mineral water, and assorted sodas.
🌟 BGI also has partnerships with a few wineries in the Anderson Valley like Toulouse Vineyards, Lula Cellars, and Navarro Vineyards. Just ask them for a list of wineries that guests can taste for free at!🍷🙌🏼

In the lobby you can find the wine hour menu so you can see what’s on the menu during your stay. Their dishes are changed every month and are on a 8-day rotation so even if you’re staying at BGI for a full week you’ll never have the same thing!👏🏼

At BGI when they say “light appetizers”, they mean three-course meal.😜 We started off with a fresh garden salad, followed by our entrees and a scrumptious Key Lime Pie for dessert.🍰 On the menu was a Citrus Baked Tilapia with an Orange Soy Shrimp Glaze paired with Jasmine Sticky Rice and Roasted Rainbow Carrots which I truly enjoyed every bite of! Tara being Vegetarian couldn’t have the Tilapia, so Chef James made her a special plate he called Garden Caviar. Both of our meals were incredibly rich and creative, it was like dining at a 5-star restaurant!🤩🙌🏼

🌟 Since everything is organic and cooked-to-order if you don’t plan on enjoying the wine hour with them that evening make sure to let the front desk know. This helps the chef plan accordingly and helps to avoid food waste!

Bird Watching
I must say, I never thought I’d be bird watching but boy is it a fun activity at BGI!🐦 Right on the back deck they have a Bird Watching Scope that you can use to observe the beautiful wildlife and listen to bird sounds in your own private outdoor oasis. I even spotted a beautiful Acorn Woodpecker with a red cap my first time!

Secret Garden
Another one of BGI’s hidden treasures is their Secret Garden, filled with all sorts of beautiful flowers, plants, and succulents. It’s definitely worth taking a walk through! 😍🌸🌷🌿

Fire Pit
We all know Northern California can get a bit chilly, especially on the coast, so why not warm up by the fire pit at BGI! Cozy night drinking wine by the fire… Count me in!🙋🏼♀️

Gift Shop
Take home a souvenir from the Brewery Gulch Inn gift shop! Located right in the lobby, they have an assortment of gifts. Coasters, BGI mugs, baseball caps, sweatshirts, robes, etc. A lot of the things that you see in your room are for sale in the gift shop like The Yoga Deck, the Himalayan salt candle holders, even the sea salt caramels!

The Owner’s wine label, Fathers + Daughters, is also for sale here if you want to take some home with you!🍷

Of course we couldn’t leave without something to remember the amazing times we had at BGI, so we got matching Mendocino sweatshirts and caps!👯♀️

Just a short walk right across the main road from BGI is the Mendocino Overlook. The chef told us about this hidden gem and we’re so happy he did! Definitely some of the best views we saw on our whole trip up the coast!🤩🌊 If you’re staying at BGI don’t miss this scenic overlook!
