📸 8 tips for taking your own photos ⬇️

I’ve been taking my own pics since I first started blogging in 2015!🤯 most of the photos you see on this page are ones that I’ve taken by myself & as a solo traveler one of the questions I get asked the most is how I take my photos while traveling, so here are my best tips for getting some amazing shots on your next trip!✈️

1. Equipment: a camera/phone, bluetooth clicker, and a tripod — my tripod is my best friend as a solo traveler! I recommend investing in a good one esp if you’re using a nice camera it’s worth it
2. Lighting: make sure you have good lighting, morning light around sunrise or right before sunset when the light is softer is best
3. Go early: esp if your taking photos at a touristy location it’s easier to avoid people and get that “perfect shot”
4. Framing: I like to take a couple photos with my phone first to frame the shot before I shoot myself, this helps me to get the right angle & make sure it aligns with my vision before I take 100 photos!
5. Know what you want: figure out what your vision is, what kind of photos you like and what sort of photo you’re after — having a general idea of what you’re going for beforehand can help tremendously so you aren’t shooting aimlessly. I always like to look up some inspo before a shoot & Pinterest is a great place to get inspired!
6. Take a lot of photos: experiment, get creative and have fun with it — move around a lot and try different things, you’ll get a lot of options this way & it’ll dramatically increase your odds of getting a pic you love!
7. Try interval shooting: most cameras have an “interval timer shooting” function where you can set the amount of photos to be taken and how many seconds in between or you can use the lens buddy app for iPhone it does the same thing!
8. Editing is everything: my fav apps for editing photos are Lightroom, Snapseed, & Facetune — I also have my own presets that are available on my website (link in bio)!

Whale watching in Maui is a must!🐋 Every year 10,000 Northern Pacific Humpback whales migrate to Hawaii and 80% of them come to the island of Maui!😍 & there’s no better way to see these magnificent mammals up close and personal than by taking a catamaran tour with @seamauicatamarans!⛵️🌊 — it was my first whale watching experience and it was so much fun!🙌🏼 details below ⬇️

▫️whale season is every year from December to April
▫️peak season being January through March (sometimes you can even see them in May!)
▫️tours with Sea Maui run until April 15th
▫️cost: $80 for adults & it’s about 2 hours long
▫️the ticket includes a full open bar 🍹
▫️Sea Maui also offers other fun tours on the island like snorkeling, sunset cruises & surf lessons!🏄🏼‍♀️ @seamauisurf
